Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in London is seeking a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (temporary) to work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead, keeping learners safe and supported. You will respond to welfare concerns, liaise with staff and external agencies, and help staff recognise early signs while maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• Strong safeguarding experience and ability to work across agencies.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or complex needs (desirable).
• Ability to guide staff on safeguarding matters and maintain professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding concerns, referrals and records.
• Respond promptly to welfare issues and follow safeguarding reporting procedures.
• Provide guidance to staff and help recognise early warning signs.
• Collaborate with external professionals and agencies on plans for learners with complex needs.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of concerns, contacts and outcomes.

Are you an experienced safeguarding professional looking to support learners in a further education setting?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in London, working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to keep learners safe, supported and listened to. You'll be a trusted point of contact for staff and learners, responding to concerns quickly and professionally.

You'll work closely with colleagues, families and external agencies to make sure vulnerable learners get the right support at the right time.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding concerns, referrals and child protection records.
• Responding promptly to welfare issues and following safeguarding reporting procedures.
• Providing guidance to staff and helping them recognise early warning signs.
• Working with external professionals and agencies on joined-up plans for learners with complex needs.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records of concerns, contact and outcomes.
