Job summary

Copleston High School is seeking an Alternate Safeguarding Lead to join its safeguarding team. You will work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to promote a strong safeguarding culture in a large secondary school and support vulnerable students and their families.

Role involves handling safeguarding concerns, coordinating with external agencies, and maintaining careful records while attending multi-agency meetings and supporting staff.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable families within education, social care, health, youth work or a related setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Ability to build effective relationships with students, families and external professionals.
• Team player with initiative and calm professional demeanor.
• Maintain accurate records and manage sensitive information appropriately.
• Experience liaising with external agencies and making safeguarding referrals (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead in promoting safeguarding culture across the school.
• Manage safeguarding concerns and coordinate with external agencies as required.
• Provide targeted support and intervention for vulnerable students.
• Represent the school at multi-agency meetings and support colleagues.
