Job summary

Oxlip Learning Partnership in Ipswich is seeking an Alternate Safeguarding Lead (ASL) to support safeguarding across the school and collaborate with the Designated Safeguarding Lead. You will manage safeguarding concerns, liaise with external agencies and provide targeted support to vulnerable students and families.

The role requires experience with safeguarding, the ability to build relationships, and strong record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable families within education, social care, health, youth work or related setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Ability to build effective relationships with students, families and external professionals.
• Confident working as part of a team while using own initiative.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and manage sensitive information.
• Remains calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support the DSL and promote a strong safeguarding culture across the school.
• Help manage safeguarding concerns and referrals as needed.
• Liaise with external agencies to coordinate support for vulnerable students.
• Provide targeted interventions and monitoring for identified students.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and professionals.
• Represent the school at multi-agency safeguarding meetings.
• Support colleagues to ensure timely help is available for students.
