Job summary

Sapientia Education Trust is recruiting a Safeguarding Co-Ordinator for Wymondham College. The 30-hour term-time role supports the safeguarding service and pastoral teams across a large school campus.

The post is fixed-term maternity cover starting September 2026 until February 2027. Applicants should have safeguarding experience and the ability to work flexibly while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Experience and/or training in counselling or listening skills.
  • Previous experience of working within a safeguarding team.
  • A trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (training can be provided if not).
  • Previous experience working with statutory bodies on welfare issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Principal and safeguarding staff to deliver an effective safeguarding service.
  • Maintain strong administration and coordinate safeguarding processes.

Safeguarding Co-Ordinator

Location: Wymondham College

Salary: SCP FTE £37,280 - £39,152 per annum. Pro-rata £23,462 - £25,081 per annum, including an allowance for holiday pay

Vacancy Type: Fixed Term, Maternity Cover, 30 hours per week, term-time only, until February 2027

Wymondham College requires a strong administrator who has pastoral and safeguarding experience working with children and/or young adults to become our Safeguarding Co-Ordinator, to support the Assistant Principal and other pastoral/safeguarding staff to deliver a highly effective safeguarding service within the College.

Person Specification

  • Able to maintain positive relationships with all and able to work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to change methods of work and routines to benefit the team;
  • Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions; the ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges.
Professional Competencies
  • Excellent administrative skills;
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and a willingness to increase this knowledge;
  • Proven experience and success working with children and/or young adults in a pastoral setting, particularly experience working with vulnerable young people;
  • Patience, tolerance and sensitivity along with a mature and non-judgemental outlook;
  • The ability to work with initiative and meet deadlines;
  • The ability to prioritise and assess emerging issues;
  • A willingness to work flexibly.
