Job summary

We are pleased to invite applications for this newly created position within our Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) services. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner passionate about SACT and its management. The role is a 2-year fixed-term post at Band 8a, working 37.5 hours per week. It is funded by the Surrey & Sussex Cancer Alliance, offering access to support and educational opportunities.

Applications are invited from nurses with recent senior experience in SACT. We seek a dynamic, forward-thinking individual who is flexible, self-motivated, reliable, and a good team player and leader. The candidate should hold a degree, possess advanced clinical practice skills, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The role involves active participation in clinical practice, education, research/audit, and implementing national guidelines and transformative services. The successful applicant will work within a well-established, dynamic SACT team providing specialist treatment, advice, holistic care, and support to patients, relatives, and healthcare team members. They will support the development and delivery of SACT services to enhance patient care standards.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an innovative nurse highly motivated to improve practice for patients receiving SACT.

Responsibilities include providing specialist support and advice to cancer patients receiving SACT, working alongside the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse, site-specific Cancer Nurses, and the AOS Team to develop and transform services.

The post holder will use collaborative and independent judgment to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage, and evaluate clinical nursing care. They will provide clinical management including ongoing assessments, investigations, procedures, treatment, and management of patients in SACT services.

The ACP will lead on audit, research, and development, initiating the implementation, evaluation, and development of multidisciplinary guidelines and protocols, incorporating current evidence in consultation with medical and nursing staff for patient care across the Trust.

The role promotes clinical governance and facilitates the implementation of the nursing/midwifery/AHP Strategy, working within Trust/Unit protocols and guidelines.
