Breast Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Diagnostic Lead)
Department: Cancer CNS
Band 8a: £53,755 - £60,504 per annum (there will be consideration to commence a candidate on a band 7 working towards Advanced Practice and on qualification transfer to 8a)
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
The Breast ACP (Diagnostic Lead) will have an advanced Clinical qualification and provide expert evidence based advice and clinical expertise within Breast diagnostic and prevention pathways, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. The post holder will be the nurse lead for implementation of urgent referral triage, one stop pathway, nurse clinics for clinical assessment, targeted biopsies, screening and prevention support services (training will be provided as required).
The post holder will be the Trust lead practitioner with decision-making autonomy, responsibility, and accountability for providing nurse-led breast diagnostic services, in addition to contributing to the leadership, education, development and supervision within the Department of Breast and for clinical teams across the Trust. The post holder will develop nurse led services for breast diagnostics and prevention services within the Trust.

Tofacilitate and provide an effective, high quality service provision to patients with all types of breast disease. The service also acts as a resource to other professionals on breast cancer issues.
It is expected that the individual will be an expert practitioner in breast diagnostics and breast care nursing with a high level of clinical credibility.
This leadership role will encompass the ability to:
Independently provide nurse led examination and biopsy clinics
Order investigations on clinical decisions and outcome of MDT
Clinically assess treatment, care and support of patients at all stages of their pathway
Provide information and support to patients, families and carers
Proved clinical support of senior nursing and medical staff in decisions regarding care and treatment plans.

The post holder will lead the diagnostic nursing team, ensuring the provision of a key- worker for patients requiring breast services. You will independently provide on-going holistic care and treatment for patients including advanced clinical assessment, planning, prescribing, initiating and care and treatment. The role will also oversee the health promotion and prevention pathways supporting recognition of breast cancer early and interventions required.
The post holder will facilitate the transition through to surgical and/or clinical oncological care at a timely and appropriate time, ensuring the transfer of keyworker as appropriate. You will provide expert nursing advice and be a core member of the Multidisciplinary team.
