Job summary

South Eastern Regional College is looking for a full-time Technician in Carpentry & Joinery at the Downpatrick Campus. The role involves providing technical support to lecturers and courses in the curriculum area, ensuring effective delivery of educational content.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery, with a minimum of three years’ experience in the industry, and skills in health and safety practices. A workplace with a commitment to professional development and wellbeing support.

• 3+ years post-apprenticeship experience in Carpentry & Joinery.
• 1+ years using woodworking machines in workshop.
• Certified documentation of apprenticeship completion.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of School the post‑holder will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to lecturers/courses in the relevant curriculum area.

Essential Criteria

• Have completed a Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery with certified documentation
• Have a minimum of 3 years’ post apprenticeship experience working in the Carpentry & Joinery industry
• Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience using woodworking machines in a workshop environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety in a workshop environment
• Demonstrate effective organisational skills
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral
• Demonstrate competence in the use of Microsoft Office package.
