Job summary

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) invites applications for a Permanent Lecturer position in Electrical Installation at the Lisburn Campus. The role is 1 Full-Time Equivalent (36 hours per week) with a starting salary on the Lecturer Scale Point 3 (£37,042 per annum).

The post involves teaching and developing courses, with responsibilities spanning assessment and student progression. The college offers extensive benefits, CPD opportunities, pension, healthcare, gym access, and well-being

Qualifications

  • GCSE English (A-C) or Essential Skills Level 2 in Communication; GCSE Maths (A-C) or Essential Skills Level 2 in Numeracy.
  • NVQ Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Level 5 qualification in the curriculum area or willingness to obtain within two years of appointment.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Electrical Installations on domestic, commercial, or industrial contracts.
  • Approved Assessor status with A1 award or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office competency.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • To become a member of the teaching team in current courses and assist with future developments.
  • Deliver electrical installation courses and support learners in practical and theory.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and improvements.
  • Assist with assessment, feedback, and learner progression planning.

We currently have a vacancy for aLecturer in Electrical Installation

JOB PURPOSE

To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Hold GCSE English (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication; and GCSE Maths (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules.
  • Hold a full NVQ Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Hold a Level 5 qualification in the relevant curriculum area or be prepared to obtain a Level 5 qualification within two years of appointment.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Electrical Installations on domestic, commercial, or industrial contracts.
  • Currently qualified as an approved Assessor and hold an A1 award or be prepared to obtain an Assessor qualification
  • Demonstrate excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on own initiative and work independently, as well as work effectively as a team member.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritise and organise given tasks and objectives.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
