Job summary

Suppleo Recruitment Ltd in Wales is seeking a Technician in Carpentry & Joinery to provide technical support across the curriculum area of the School of Construction & Built Environment. The role is 37 hours per week with split hours between SA6 and SA10/SA8.

You will maintain a practical workshop for teaching and learning, prepare materials and equipment, check and repair gear, and help supervise learners while ensuring a safe, clean workspace and accurate stock inventories.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a Level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Level 2 English and Maths (GSCE or equivalent) are required.
• IT literacy at Level 2 is essential.
• Experience in a school workshop or similar environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements is essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an appropriate practical working environment for teaching and learning.
• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for use.
• Check, maintain and repair equipment where possible.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised workshop.
• Maintain stock levels and inventories of tools, equipment and materials.
• Assist in supervising learners within the workshop.
• Organise issue and return of tools, equipment and materials.
• Participate in risk assessments of practical activities.

Technician in Carpentry & Joinery

To provide technical support across the curriculum area of the school of Construction & Built Environment (in Carpentry & Joinery)

37 hours per week (SA6)

18.5 hours per week based between (SA10/SA8)

• To be responsible for maintaining an appropriate practical working environment for teaching and learning;
• To prepare materials, tools and equipment for use
• To check, maintain and where possible repair equipment
• To maintain a clean, safe and well-organised environment in the workshop
• To maintain stock levels and provide accurate and current inventories of, tools, equipment and materials
• To assist in supervising learners within the workshop
• To help organise the issue and return of tools, equipment and materials to users
• To participate in risk assessments of practical activities.

Candidates should hold a level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline, level 2 qualifications in both English and Maths (GSCE or equivalent) and be IT literate to level 2. Candidates should also have relevant experience. The ability to operate and maintain machinery equipment and a knowledge of Health and Safety requirements are essential.
