Job summary

Unipart Technologies Group in Oxford seeks an experienced SAP S/4HANA Basis Consultant to design, implement, and maintain complex SAP systems, ensuring high performance and availability across cloud and on‑premise components.

You will lead technical teams across system administration, migrations, security, and monitoring, collaborate with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and mentor junior Basis engineers while driving automation across SAP platform operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive SAP Basis administration experience with S/4HANA and HANA.
• Proven track record with OS/DB migrations and S/4HANA upgrades.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and security.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP S/4HANA and HANA databases.
• Oversee performance tuning, HA/DR, and upgrades across complex landscapes.
• Collaborate with cloud providers and security to enforce robust guardrails.
• Drive migration strategies, monitoring, and root-cause analysis for critical issues.
• Oversee TMS, kernel upgrades, and Solution Manager/Cloud ALM processes.
• Mentor junior Basis engineers and push automation across SAP operations.

About the Role

As an S/4 Senior Basis Consultant, you will design, implement, and maintain complex SAP S/4HANA systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards. You will lead technical teams across system administration, database management, cloud migration, and integration strategy to deliver robust and scalable solutions.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

• Lead the technical architecture, installation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA databases, and associated SAP cloud and on-premise components.
• Manage system performance tuning, high availability/disaster recovery setup, and lifecycle upgrades/system copies across complex landscape topologies.
• Collaborate with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), functional leads, and security teams to enforce robust infrastructure guardrails and cyber security compliance.
• Drive technical migration strategies, system monitoring, and root-cause analysis for critical SAP Basis issues and cutover activities.
• Oversee transport management system (TMS), kernel upgrades, SAP Solution Manager/Cloud ALM, and patch management processes.
• Mentor junior Basis engineers and champion continuous automation across SAP platform operations.

About You

• Extensive experience in SAP Basis administration, including proven expertise with SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA database administration.
• Strong track record in executing SAP OS/DB migrations, S/4HANA upgrades, and public/private cloud infrastructure management (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Deep expertise in system performance monitoring, memory management, HANA backup/restore, and disaster recovery architectures.
• In-depth understanding of SAP security, authorisations, single sign-on (SSO), and Solution Manager / Cloud ALM setup.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on delivering quality operational outcomes and driving team technical excellence.
• Relevant SAP certifications (e.g. SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA / S/4HANA System Administration) or hyperscaler cloud architecture certifications are highly desirable.
