Job summary

Unipart Technologies Group is seeking an experienced S/4HANA ABAP Consultant to design, implement and optimize custom ABAP code, workflows and extensions within the S/4HANA development stream in Oxford. You will deliver high-performing code, lead complex technical workshops, and author detailed technical blueprints for client projects.

You will drive integration of RAP, BOPF, CDS Views, and OData services, align with latest SAP offerings, and mentor teams on modern S/4HANA programming models

Qualifications

• SAP development experience with heavy ABAP
• 2+ full-lifecycle S/4HANA implementation or migration projects
• Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and certifications desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on development of ABAP components including RAP, BOPF, CDS Views, OData, and complex workflows
• Develop standard extension PoCs and system demos for private/public cloud environments
• Follow SAP offerings and use SAP Activate templates; log tasks in Cloud ALM
• Review TDDs against specs and map components to business workflows
• Support internal technical training, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions
• Conduct deep-dive code reviews and performance optimisations with ABAP Test Cockpit

About the Role

As S/4 Snr ABAP Consultant you’ll be responsible for executing, designing, and implementing custom code enhancements, workflows, and extensions within the S/4HANA development stream. You will ensure that individual client projects receive high-performing, optimised code objects that strictly follow the practice's development standards. As an experienced, autonomous technical consultant you will facilitate complex technical workshops, author high-quality technical blueprints, and confidently build advanced S/4HANA extensions.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

• Lead the hands-on development of advanced ABAP components, including RESTful Application Programming (RAP), Business Object Processing Framework (BOPF), Core Data Services (CDS) Views, OData services, and complex workflow engines.
• Assist the presales capability by developing standard extension proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and system demonstrations within Private and Public Cloud environments.
• Execute development tasks in strict alignment with the latest SAP offerings, utilising SAP Activate templates and logging code readiness and technical tasks via Cloud ALM.
• Review Technical Design Documents (TDDs) against functional specifications, leveraging Signavio-derived process models to ensure custom components map cleanly to business workflows.
• Support the design and delivery of internal technical training, developer hackathons, and knowledge-sharing workshops focused on modern S/4HANA programming models.
• Conduct deep-dive code reviews, performance optimisations, and automated testing via the ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) to ensure stable deployment.

About You

We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!

• SAP development experience, with a heavy focus on advanced ABAP programming and at least 2 full-lifecycle S/4HANA implementation or migration projects.
• Strong working knowledge of the SAP Activate Methodology. Relevant certifications in SAP S/4HANA ABAP Development or SAP BTP are preferred.
• Proven hands-on experience building on-stack and side-by-side extensions using modern S/4HANA architecture guidelines.
• Direct experience or exposure to code profiling platforms, Cloud ALM task tracking, and digital adoption frameworks like WalkMe for technical testing.
• Possession of a valid passport and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required to support project development sprints, integration testing phases, and client alignment sessions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical code logic into clear, high-value process choices for functional leads and client teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent is desired.
