Job description

We're partnered with a global Semicon company, and they need a CPU RTL Design Engineer to work on next generation high performance, low power processors.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with chip architects and modelling teams to define microarchitecture and deliver high quality RTL from early concept through to silicon.

You will be involved early in the product lifecycle and have real influence on architecture, performance decisions, and design trade-offs.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Performance exploration in collaboration with CPU modelling teams
  • Microarchitecture development and detailed specification from early architectural concepts
  • RTL ownership including development, assessment, and refinement to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals
  • Supporting functional verification teams to execute verification strategies
  • Supporting performance verification to ensure design meets performance targets
  • Working with cross functional engineering teams on physical design considerations including timing, area, power, reliability, and testability
What We Are Looking For:
  • Solid knowledge of microprocessor architecture with expertise in one or more of the following: Instruction fetch and decode, Branch prediction, Instruction scheduling and register renaming, Out of order execution, Integer and floating point execution, Load store units, Prefetching and/or Cache and memory subsystems
  • Experience with Verilog and or VHDL
  • Hands on experience using simulators and waveform debugging tools
  • Solid understanding of logic design principles and timing and power implications
  • Knowledge of low power microarchitecture techniques
  • Understanding of high performance CPU design techniques and trade-offs
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
