Job summary

Brackenberry Limited in the United Kingdom seeks a Rough Sleep Support Worker for a 3-month contract in Walsall. You will provide practical support, guidance and advocacy to vulnerable homeless adults, including rough sleepers and those with complex needs.

Your duties include conducting outreach to locate rough sleepers, supporting life skills, risk management and helping service users access accommodation and move towards independent living.

Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of a Rough Sleep Support Worker, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. The Rough Sleeper Support Worker provides practical support, advice and guidance to vulnerable homeless adults, including rough sleepers, former rough sleepers, offenders and individuals with complex needs who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The role focuses on reducing repeat homelessness by helping service users develop essential life skills, build confidence, access suitable accommodation and achieve long-term independent living.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct outreach activities across the borough to locate rough sleepers and follow up on referrals received by the team.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of housing and welfare legislation, welfare rights and debt-related issues.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals, including homelessness, substance misuse, mental health difficulties, offending and sexual exploitation.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and support planning principles.
