Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a motivated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team. Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team. The successful candidate will work closely with pharmacy colleagues and the wider healthcare team to ensure patients receive a high-quality, timely and professional service.

We are a department that is committed to the extended role of technicians, and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department. Your duties will be rotational between clinical services (medicines reconciliation reviews), dispensing, final checking, high cost drug reporting, counselling and clinical trials. Medicines Management Systems are highly integrated into electronic IT systems. Pharmacy Technicians are involved in "at the bedside clinical services", POD's, medicines reconciliation and one stop dispensing.

The successful candidate will have relevant pharmacy experience, hold a BTEC/ NVQ Level 3 (Pharmaceutical Sciences) qualification or equivalent and have registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours working including weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

• Support the safe supply, dispensing and management of medicines for patients across the hospital.
• Work closely with pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare staff to help provide high quality patient care.
• Check medicine supplies, maintain stock levels and ensure medicines are available when needed.
• Speak with patients and staff to provide advice and support about medicines, following pharmacy procedures.
• Use pharmacy computer systems to record information, monitor medicines and help produce reports.
• Take part in training, service improvements, weekend and bank holiday duties, and help maintain a safe working environment.
