Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Bedfordshire is seeking a Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapist to join our busy acute hospital services. The rotation offers experience across Neurology and Stroke, Frailty and Elderly Medicine, Urgent Medicine, Respiratory and Cardiology, and Orthopaedics/Surgery.

You will join supportive OT teams with Band 7 leads and experienced staff, receiving supervision to develop clinical skills and professional growth.

Qualifications

Undertake comprehensive therapeutic assessments of patients with physical and psychological conditions, identifying occupational therapy needs and developing, implementing and evaluating individualised treatment plans.
Manage an allocated caseload independently and work autonomously, seeking guidance from senior OT as required and participating in regular supervision.
Deliver and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions using evidence-based knowledge and clinical reasoning.
Support and supervise work experience students undertaking observational placements, ensuring confidentiality and professional conduct.
Participate in evidence-based clinical audits, service evaluations and research to improve service delivery.

Responsibilities

To manage an allocated caseload independently and take responsibility for a designated clinical area or ward, working autonomously and seeking guidance from a senior OT when required, with regular supervision.
To undertake all aspects of clinical practice as an autonomous practitioner, applying evidence-based knowledge, professional judgement and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions.
To support and supervise work experience students undertaking observational placements, ensuring appropriate professional conduct and patient confidentiality at all times.
To actively participate in evidence-based clinical audits, research projects and service evaluations to develop individual and team clinical practice and improve service delivery within designated clinical areas.
