Job summary

Arriva TrainCare in Crewe is seeking a Rolling Stock Modifications Team Leader to guide a team of skilled fitters on vehicle modification and maintenance projects. You will drive safety, quality and on-time delivery, ensuring activities align with VMIs, VOIs and customer standards.

The role leads a depot-wide team, shaping training, competence development and performance improvements while collaborating with customers.

Qualifications

• BTEC Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (essential), preferably Rail Traction & Rolling Stock.
• Experience managing or supervising engineering teams.
• Solid knowledge of rail vehicle maintenance and depot operations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with Class 15X DMUs.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Excellent IT, communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of fitters to deliver contracted work safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with VMIs, VOIs and company work instructions.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and production performance across the depot.
• Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to support project delivery.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members to maximise performance.
• Support competence assessments and training initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure work locations remain compliant, safe and fit for purpose.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support the Crewe Depot Manager in delivery of modification and refurbishment programmes.
