Job summary

Coventry City Council is recruiting for Road Worker Level 2/3 – Grade 5-6. You will join the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) and lead a small team in the construction and routine maintenance of footways, carriageways and drainage across Coventry.

A UK driving licence is required, and there are opportunities to work on high-profile schemes across the city. The role emphasises diversity and inclusion, with guaranteed interview schemes for eligible candidates and a commitment to fair recruitment

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Experience operating plant machinery including heavy rollers, dumpers, compressors/JH, Sthil saws, whacker plates.
• Experience in highway construction/maintenance.
• Ability to work in a team and on own initiative.
• Experience leading a small team.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Willing to undertake training when required.
• Able to work in all weathers.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team and undertake highway construction/maintenance activities.
• Carry out laying of bituminous materials, drainage, kerb, paving and pipe laying to precise levels.
• Work on high profile schemes across the city to improve residents’ environments.
