Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join the S278 Highways Team within Engineering Design Services to lead developer-funded highway improvement schemes across the county, from new link roads and junction upgrades to cycling and active travel projects, to improve road safety, reduce congestion and enhance connectivity.

You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, manage stakeholder relationships, apply design standards and health and safety policies, and

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians
• Build good relationships, engage with colleagues and stakeholders, and communicate effectively - both orally and in writing
• Solve complex technical and logistical problems
• Undertake programmes of S278 works and other projects with coordination with other design disciplines e.g. traffic signals and structural designers, street lighting etc
• Manage Engineers in the role of project manager to ensure projects are delivered using correct internal processes, design standards, legal requirements, traffic regulations requirements and Health & Safety policies
• Manage and be responsible for the calculation of fee proposals for S278 works, discuss with Developers and other Clients, monitor costs and deal with financial queries
• Provide project management of work packages let to consultants through the professional services framework
• Prepare reports as appropriate for the Service Manager or Head of EDS
• Manage conflicting priorities and demands associated with local authority infrastructure delivery
• Remain composed in difficult circumstances, exercise sound judgement and make critical decisions
• Operate in a matrix working environment
