Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) for a national breakdown company based in Merthyr Tydfil. Base pay is £36,400 with OTE exceeding £60,000 and potential £70k–£80k due to overtime and bonuses.

40 hours weekly, 6am–12am shifts, 12 months of advance scheduling, and all hours from home before you take the van out. Benefits include 23–25 days holiday, pension contributions up to 6.5%, life insurance, ongoing training and progression, car salary sacrifice with EV

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs, including battery changes and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, to restore mobility.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
