Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with 15+ million members. Base pay is £36,400 with an OTE exceeding £60,000 and potential to reach £70k–£80k.

Role is 40 hours weekly, 6am–12am shifts, Mon–Sun, with flex overtime at x1.5 or fixed overtime at £30/hour. Heathrow-based with hours starting from home when you begin the van.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
