Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role is based in Plymouth, with a salary of £36,400 and an OTE of over £60,000, plus overtime and bonus opportunities.

Expect 40 hours per week, shifts 6am–12am, Monday to Sunday, with fixed overtime options and home-based start points. Benefits include a pension match, life insurance, and progression opportunities within the company.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in a workshop or mobile role.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
