Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (Field based) in Warrington to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company.

The role offers a solid basic salary of £36,400 plus overtime, bonus opportunities, a company van, fuel card and tools. OTE £61,000+ for top performers. Shifts are 40 hours weekly, often 6am–12pm or 8am–5pm; rota given 12 months in advance. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• 2+ years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

Monday – Sunday, 40 hours per week, between 6am and 12pm (could be 9am – 5pm or 8am – 4pm etc, shifts vary). You get your rota 12 months in advance, so you can plan accordingly. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
