Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (Field based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The Warrington-based role offers a basic salary with bonus, overtime, and a company van with fuel card and tools provided.

Qualifications

• Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair required; Level 3 preferred.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs (battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

Monday – Sunday, 40 hours per week, between 6am and 12pm (could be 9am – 5pm or 8am – 4pm etc, shifts vary). You get your rota 12 months in advance, so you can plan accordingly. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
