Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The successful candidate will work from Lancaster, with a strong base salary and generous OTE.

You will undertake mechanical and electrical roadside repairs, use diagnostics, and advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed. Flexible shifts and career progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or Level 3 qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isnt possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

£36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedule

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What youll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
