Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) for a national breakdown company. The role is permanent and full-time, based around Scunthorpe, with a strong salary package including overtime and a generous OTE.

You'll work 40 hours per week across shifts starting early mornings through the evening, with structured overtime and opportunities to earn £60k–£80k+ annually. A UK right-to-work is required and a clear driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs including battery replacements and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, maintaining member mobility.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
