Job summary

Roadside Technician (Field based) is a permanent full-time role with a national breakdown company. It offers a strong salary package (£36,400 base, OTE up to £60,000), overtime, bonus opportunities and career progression.

Shifts are 40 hours weekly from 6am to 12pm, with overtime at £30 per hour. All work starts from home before driving to the first site, in Swindon area.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points; no bans.
• Customer-focused approach and safety-conscious work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery, tyres, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and options for repair.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: Up to £60,000

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.

• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• A customer-focused approach
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
