Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) in Scunthorpe for a national breakdown company. The role offers a great base salary with substantial OTE, overtime, and bonus opportunities, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

You will be responsible for attending breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and performing roadside repairs with a focus on safety and customer service. A valid UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• At least 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points and no bans.
• Customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Job description

Roadside Technician (field-based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Scunthorpe

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer‑focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
