Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a Roadside Technician based in Guildford. You will be providing roadside assistance across a national breakdown network, diagnosing faults and performing on-the-spot repairs to restore mobility.

The role offers a strong salary with overtime and a bonus scheme, plus progression opportunities, and requires a UK work entitlement and a full UK driving licence. Shifts span early mornings to late evenings, with work-from-vehicle duties and overnight

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Roadside Technician (field-based)

Providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location and salary

Location: Guildford

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role
