Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Roadside Technician (Field based) in Chesterfield to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. This permanent role offers 40 hours per week, with flexi overtime and bonuses, plus benefits including pension, life cover, and training.

You will attend roadside breakdowns, perform mechanical/electrical repairs and use diagnostic tools to identify issues. A full UK driving licence and relevant qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or mobile role.
• Customer-focused approach and a full UK driving licence (max 6 points, no bans).

Responsabilités

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside (battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and plan repairs.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members on next steps including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments.

Roadside Technician (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Chesterfield

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
