Job summary

The AA is looking for a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to join our Field Operations in the UK. You will be the friendly face of the nation’s largest motoring organisation, working independently across varied locations to get drivers back on the road.

Expect a structured shift pattern with 40-hour weeks and a mix of on-call availability. Guaranteed first-year earnings of £38,270 with OTE up to £60,000 for top performers.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience.
• Full Category B driving licence with 6 points or less.
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology provided by the employer.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway, paid from when you get in your van until you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while being part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot with your technical skills and calm approach to roadside situations.

Shifts:

As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
