Job summary

The AA is hiring a Roadside Rescue Mechanic in the UK. You will start and finish your day from your driveway, earning a guaranteed £38,270 with OTE up to £60,000 based on performance.

You'll work ~40 hours weekly, with shift options and location variety. You’ll rely on your technical know‑how and clear communication to assist drivers, resolving issues on the spot.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications with experience.
• A full category B driving licence with 6 points or less.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology; ready for roadside challenges.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway, paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
