Job summary

Amey in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV Driver) to join our team on a permanent basis. You will carry out highway maintenance tasks, operate HGVs, and participate in winter standby duties.

The role offers a competitive salary, 39 hours per week, and opportunities for training and career development; you will work with a supportive team and liaise with contractors, emergency services, and the public.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Demonstrate an awareness to Health and Safety regulations.
• Be self‑motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Ideal if you have previous winter maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking various highway maintenance tasks, including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, including HGVs and small plant machinery, ensuring checks and routing maintenance are complete.
• Participate in winter and summer standby duties, including emergency callouts.
• Ensure safety of yourself and the team through proactive risk assessment and reporting.
• Maintain records and liaise with Amey staff, sub‑contractors, emergency services and clients.
