Job summary

Amey invites applications for a Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV Driver) at the Forfar depot. You’ll join our frontline teams delivering drainage, kerbing, and civils works while operating HGVs and plant.

The role includes planned and reactive maintenance, site diaries, and on-call nightshift. A full UK driving licence is preferred, and safety is core to everything we do.

Working hours are 39 per week, Monday to Friday, with on-call rota and nightshift when required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, safety-focused approach to outdoor work.
• Experience within highways, civils, construction or related trade desirable.
• Winter maintenance or emergency response experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a range of highways maintenance activities (drainage, kerbing, minor civils).
• Support both routine maintenance and larger improvement schemes.
• Operate HGVs, plant and specialist equipment safely and effectively.
• Lead or support site teams and coordinate with gangers and colleagues.
• Complete accurate records including site diaries and work measurements.
