Job summary

SMT GB is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair Dynapac road construction equipment across the South of England. You will work independently, travel the large territory, and collaborate with a wider team of technical experts to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

You will diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance, and build strong relationships with customers while prioritising safety and quality.

Qualifications

Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent) in Plant, Agricultural, Construction Equipment or HGV Engineering.
Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery or similar mobile equipment.
Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Good understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions and electrical systems.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and colleagues.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
Good IT skills and experience completing electronic service documentation.

Responsibilities

Service, maintain and repair Dynapac road construction equipment to OEM standards.
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and breakdown repairs.
Identify opportunities for additional service, parts and aftermarket sales.
Work closely with Customer Support Representatives and internal teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
Install software updates, machine enhancements and technical modifications.
Complete electronic job cards, service reports, timesheets and associated documentation accurately and in real time.
Order and manage parts in line with company processes.
Participate in call-out and breakdown support rotas when required.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers across your territory.
Attend technical training and development activities to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.
