About the role

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture at Smiths News, including all road transport and operational yard safety at company and third-party locations.
• Managing company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes to ensure proper arrangements are in place.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a safety-first culture.
• Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as the HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
• Investigating incidents and accidents with trained colleagues, escalating issues as necessary, and liaising with emergency services and media when appropriate.

About you

• Nebosh Level 3 qualification or equivalent
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience including root cause analysis
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
