Risk and Safety Compliance Advisor (Hiring Immediately), London

This role involves nationwide travel and focuses on health, safety, and environmental risk management at Smiths News.

Responsibilities

• Delivering the company's health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serving as the Subject Matter Expert on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning and managing company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
• Leading Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
• Investigating incidents and accidents with trained colleagues, escalating serious cases, and liaising with emergency services and media as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Nebosh Level 3 qualification or equivalent
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk management qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
