Job Description:

• Nationwide travel
• About the role
• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy of the business, as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place and managed.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs in conjunction with the Head of Safety & Risk to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Maintaining positive relationships and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
• Ensuring incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation as needed, and liaising with external stakeholders like emergency services and media.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
