Job description

At National Grid Ventures Interconnectors, we're playing a vital role in supporting the UK's transition to a cleaner, more secure energy future. Through our portfolio of electrical interconnectors, we connect the UK's energy system with neighbouring countries, helping to balance supply, improve resilience and enable access to low-carbon energy.

As we continue to grow and develop new interconnector projects, we're looking for a Risk Analyst to join our Governance, Risk & Controls team within Interconnector Operations.

Our Operations team is responsible for operating 5.8GW of interconnector capacity, making a direct contribution to the safe and reliable operation of the UK energy system every day. In this role, you'll support the identification, assessment and management of risks across our portfolio, helping to ensure effective governance, compliance and decision-making across a complex operational environment.

Working closely with stakeholders from across the business, you'll support the development of risk management activities, facilitate risk discussions, maintain high-quality risk information and contribute to the continuous improvement of our risk management framework.

The role is hybrid with our base office in Warwick, we'd expect to see you twice a week in the office and can work the rest from home.

What you'll do
  • Support the implementation of Interconnectors' risk management framework, policies and processes across the business.

  • Support assurance activities to ensure compliance with agreed risk management standards and processes.
  • Coordinate governance activities, including meeting administration, action tracking, reporting and risk committee support.
  • Maintain risk registers and improving the quality, accuracy and consistency of risk data.
  • Produce and maintain risk reporting to support effective governance and business decision-making.
  • Support the delivery of risk awareness, engagement and training activities across the Interconnectors business.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management tools, processes and ways of working.
What you'll need

  • Experience analysing data to identify trends, themes and emerging risk patterns.

  • Experience supporting assurance, compliance, audit or risk-related activities.
  • Experience working within one or more of the following areas: cyber security, safety, health and environment (SHE), asset management, capital projects, financial operations or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience using data and reporting tools to support decision-making. Knowledge of Power BI and SharePoint would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of risk management within operational, engineering or commercial environments would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, capturing outcomes and supporting governance forums.
