Job summary

National Grid invites applications for a Threat Intelligence Analyst based in Warwick, operating under a hybrid working model. You will support the end-to-end intelligence cycle, delivering evidence-based assessments on threats to inform risk management across UK Physical Security and beyond.

National Grid is hiring a Threat Intelligence Analyst on a permanent basis. This position is based in Warwick and operates under a hybrid working model.

About the role

As Threat Intelligence Analyst, you'll support the end-to-end intelligence cycle, delivering evidence-based assessment and insight on physical and people security threats to help inform risk management and decision-making across UK Physical Security and beyond.

You'll combine strategic threat assessment with tactical intelligence analysis, translating complex information into clear, actionable intelligence products. You'll support identification of emerging risks, assess threat actor intent and capability, analyse incident trends, and support intelligence and threat-informed security decision-making across the organisation.

You'll work closely with UKPhysical Security colleagues and engage with internal stakeholders and external partners to help ensure security responses remain informed by an accurate understanding of the threat environment.

What you'll do
  • Collect and assess intelligence from internal and external sources to identify and monitor security threats relevant to National Grid.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to track geopolitical, societal, and other developments impacting the energy sector and Critical National Infrastructure.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and support collection priorities aligned with business and security risks.
Intelligence Processing and Evaluation
  • Evaluate intelligence for reliability, accuracy, and relevance.
  • Maintain intelligence records, datasets, and source information to support effective analysis and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure sensitive information is handled, stored and shared appropriately.
Intelligence Analysis and Threat Assessment
  • Produce evidence-based assessments of physical and people security threats.
  • Analyze information from multiple sources to identify trends, vulnerabilities, and emerging risks.
  • Assess threat actor capability and intent, and communicate potential impacts on National Grid's people, assets, and operations.
Intelligence Dissemination, Integration and Communication
  • Deliver concise, defendable, and timely threat reports, briefings, alerts, and strategic assessments tailored to a range of audiences.
  • Present threat briefings that support risk-based decision-making and security planning.
  • Provide intelligence support during incidents, events, and other operational activities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Working
  • Build strong relationships across UK Physical Security, National Grid and with external partners, including government agencies, law enforcement and industry peers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring threat intelligence is understood and applied effectively.
  • Collaborate with intelligence and security teams across the organization and beyond to share insights and best practices.
Continuous Improvement and Capability Development
  • Support the enhancement of threat intelligence capabilities, methodologies, and governance.
  • Contribute to improvements in intelligence reporting, analytics and threat assessment processes, working with specialist teams where appropriate.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and support the development of colleagues in UK Physical Security on threat.
About you
  • Experience in an intelligence analysis or threat assessment or related role.
  • Experience within Critical National Infrastructure, energy, government, law enforcement or national security environments.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and produce evidence-based reports, briefings and presentations for different audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable interest in security, resilience and risk-related issues affecting Critical National Infrastructure.
  • Ability and willingness to adopt new technologies, analytical tools and ways of working to improve intelligence processes and outcomes.

It would be awesome if you had:

  • Knowledge of physical, personnel, personal and protective security.
  • Knowledge of nation state, terrorism, activism, criminality and geopolitical threats.
  • Understanding of intelligence cycle principles and formal analytical approaches.
  • Experience exploiting AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve analytical workflows.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using threat intelligence platforms and intelligence management systems.
  • Experience using Power BI, Power Automate or other data visualisation and analytical tools.
Additional Requirement
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain appropriate National Security Vetting clearance.
