Job summary

Universal Quantum in the United Kingdom is seeking an RF – System Designer to join the Electronics Group to advance quantum technologies.

You will design and validate RF delivery systems, collaborate with electronics, ASIC, mechanical engineers and physicists, and push innovative RF solutions from concept to delivery. This role emphasizes hands-on testing, cross-functional teamwork and rapid PoC development.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of RF system or circuit design experience.
• Strong understanding of RF hardware design principles.
• Experience developing and executing RF test plans.
• Knowledge of low noise design techniques and testing of low noise RF systems.
• Proven success bringing RF subsystems to market.
• Proficiency with HFSS, CST and ADS.
• Experience working with suppliers/contractors.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration.
• Minimum 2.1 BEng/BSc in System or Electronics Engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and architecture activities for a custom RF delivery system including cables and transmission lines.
• Define specifications and trade-offs for key RF building blocks.
• Oversee RF design, simulation, integration, verification and validation testing.
• Expand expertise across various engineering domains.
• Collaborate with RF team members, electronics engineers, ASIC/chip designers, mechanical engineers, software engineers and physicists.
• Ensure the use of innovative RF solutions.
• Assist in project planning, scheduling, risk management and progress reporting.
• Contribute to rapid proof-of-concept developments and feasibility discussions.
