What's the role?

Job Title: Retention Manager

Team: Retention

Location: London

Overview of the role

The Retention Manager will be part of our existing Retention team. The Retention team is responsible for managing and growing revenue from a high number of corporate clients by understanding their needs and delivering high-quality FX (foreign exchange) products and payment services. The focus of this role will be a ‘player-manager’ with responsibilities that include both an individual origination target, as well as a pod-team target, and supporting the Head of Retention in effectively running the team and hitting revenue targets in a collaborative, compliant and sustainable manner.The RetentionManager role will be central in effectively running the team, in ensuring revenue targets are hit, activity and quality control monitoring, training & development.

Responsibilities

1. Hitting individual targets set by the business to develop new business and migrating this business into the core portfolios managed by the Retention team.

2. Ensuring team hits targets by supporting, training, developing, activity management,KPI management, quality control focus, customer service focus, upselling, cross selling, increasing wallet share

3. Supporting all origination by transitioning new business clients before they go formally into retention targets

Core Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Champion and drive processes and practices to enable team members to succeed in their role. This includes 1:1, regular feedback, reviews and goal settings.
  • Cultivate a rewarding, agile and results-driven culture to achieve department objectives
  • Attract, recruit and retain capable individuals, building on and complementing the diversity of our teams.
  • Promote a safe and secure work environment for people to experiment, learn and grow as individuals.
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated as relevant and ensure that they are followed at all times.
  • Ensure communication and flow of information between business and team members

Origination

  • Develop mastery of the IFX Payments product suite including iBanq to perfect a sales strategy to both FX and Payment prospects.
  • Grow and maintain relationships with corporate clients, understanding their FX and Payment needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Analyse client portfolios to identify potential risks and recommend strategies to mitigate currency exposures.

Revenue Growth and Client Retention:

  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue by offering tailored FX and payment solutions and additional services that meet clients’ evolving needs.
  • Displays mastery of hedging products – particularly forward contracts and strategies to manage risk, credit policies and margin management.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Sales and Product, to ensure client retention through value-driven services and support.

Trade Execution and Risk Management:

  • Execute deliverable FX trades accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Manage trade settlements, confirmations, and other post-trade activities to ensure smooth, accurate, and timely processes.
  • Understand each client’s FX exposure risk and recommend risk management strategies to optimize outcomes.

Market Analysis and Client Advisory:

  • Provide clients with market updates, FX rate forecasts, and insights to support their decision-making process.
  • Analyse FX market trends and macroeconomic factors to anticipate client needs and proactively present solutions.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide a seamless client experience.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, trade activities, and revenue data for performance tracking and reporting.
  • Report on revenue growth, client activity, and other key performance indicators to management.

Requirements

  • Successful and demonstrable track record of portfolio management and team management.
  • Can navigate and execute complex exploration and match value to business requirements at any level
  • Proven experience in building and managing teams for growth
  • Market tested experience in identifying, treating and monitoring business performance issues/improvements
  • Long and varied experience in FX sales FX dealing, corporate banking, or a related role such as account management or financial sales.
  • High-level knowledge of deliverable FX products, trading platforms, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a client-first approach.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex financial concepts to clients clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
  • A true team player with a winning mentality and strong work ethic committed to continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Adaptable, tenacious and flexible who is able to perform under pressure.
