Job summary

Imperial College Union is seeking an experienced Retail Supervisor to lead busy retail outlets and an online store. You will own store performance, motivate teams, manage stock and work closely with the Retail Manager to drive sales profitability.

The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer experiences, maintaining high merchandising standards, and developing the Union's online retail offering alongside strong operational controls.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading, supervising, and motivating retail teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
• Experience managing stock ordering and supplier relationships to meet business needs and peak trading periods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across a diverse organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support retail staff to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
• Oversee daily shop floor operations, ensuring merchandising, stock availability and presentation standards.
• Manage deliveries, stock control processes and supplier relationships to ensure stock coverage.
• Support the development and growth of the Union's online retail offering.
• Monitor performance and implement improvements to enhance sales and operations.
• Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate trading hour coverage.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of casual retail staff.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, stock management procedures, and cash handling.
• Maintain a safe, compliant working environment and champion health and safety best practice.
• Assist with stock takes, budgeting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
