Retail Store Manager

£26,259 - £30,804 plus benefits

Reports to: Area Manager

Department: Trading

Contract: 6-month fixed term

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week

Location: Southampton Portswood, Shirley, and Ferndown shops

About us: We exist to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, but we need to go further and faster. We’re looking for a talented, motivated store manager to join our trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador, motivating your team to maximize sales and fundraising. Your shop will be a community hub, helping people learn about our work and supporting our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide, inspire, and develop a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment and retention.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of your store, including display, merchandising, stock management, standards, layout, sales, and income.
  • Lead by example, providing excellent customer and supporter service.
  • Maximize profit through effective cost control and sales strategies.
  • Build relationships with the local community and colleagues.
  • Organize and run creative fundraising events to meet targets.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies.
  • Be prepared for manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience managing and inspiring a diverse team.
  • Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve them.
  • Ability to multitask in a lively environment.
  • Knowledge of excellent customer service principles.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of high street fashion retail.
  • Adaptability and ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of item pricing, value, and worth.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing business needs with personal life.
