Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a Retail Relief Security Officer to protect our client’s retail store, customers, staff and assets. You will deliver a visible security presence, deter theft, and support store operations while maintaining high service standards.

Deployment details vary a bit, with shifts across multiple sites within a reasonable distance from home. The role requires an up-to-date SIA licence and CCTV knowledge, and offers market-rate hourly pay (£13.10) with

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, or a customer-facing environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) – essential.
• CCTV Licence – desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible security presence on the shop floor to deter theft.
• Deliver customer service and assist customers to create a positive in-store experience.
• Support day-to-day retail operations and respond to incidents with staff.
• Monitor activity to identify suspicious behaviour and prevent loss.
• Carry out regular patrols of sales floor and stockrooms.
• Manage conflict professionally with a customer-first approach.
