Job summary

Whittard of Chelsea in Braintree is seeking a Retail Deputy Manager to support the Store Manager in delivering exceptional service, empowering a strong team, and ensuring the store runs smoothly.

You’ll lead by example on the shop floor, coach staff through tastings and storytelling, manage rotas, review daily performance, and drive commercial results while upholding Whittard’s standards and local community engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within retail.
• Ability to coach, motivate, and lead by example.
• Strong commercial instincts with ability to read reports and use data.
• Proactive mindset with a track record of taking action.
• Excellent organisation and time management, customer-focused.
• Passion for creating brilliant customer experiences and sharing product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead store team and support the Store Manager in daily operations.
• Coach and develop colleagues; manage rotas and performance.
• Monitor KPIs such as conversion and ATV; drive improvements.
• Oversee stock counts, deliveries, H&S compliance, and store visuals.
• Engage with local community and marketing activities.
