Job summary

Macduff Aquarium is recruiting a Retail and Commercial Supervisor to lead our retail and commercial operations and ensure a memorable visitor experience. You will oversee the gift shop, EPOS and ticketing systems, café liaison, financial administration and front‑of‑house activities.

The role includes supervising staff, stock control and procurement, supporting commercial reporting, and serving as Duty Officer on a weekend rota. Flexibility to work weekends/public holidays is essential.

Macduff Aquarium is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Retail and Commercial Supervisor to lead our retail operations, support commercial activities and help ensure every visitor enjoys a memorable experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a unique visitor attraction, playing a key role in the day-to-day operation and commercial success of the aquarium.

The Retail and Commercial Supervisor will lead the day-to-day retail and commercial operations at Macduff Aquarium, ensuring an excellent visitor experience through effective management of the gift shop, EPOS and ticketing systems, café liaison, financial administration, and front‑of‑house activities. The postholder will supervise front of house staff, manage stock control and procurement, support commercial reporting, and act as Duty Officer on a weekend rota basis.

Candidates should have experience in retail operations, customer service and staff supervision, along with strong communication, IT and organisational skills. Knowledge of EPOS systems, stock control procedures and merchandising techniques is essential, as is the ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays. Applicants should be educated to National 5 level (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
