Job summary

Ability Housing Association in Staines, Surrey, South East England, is seeking a proactive Repairs Officer to own the responsive repairs service from report to completion. This hands-on role combines repairs coordination, contractor management, inspections and resident communication, with an emphasis on safety and standards.

You will report to the Head of Property & Asset and ensure timely diagnosis, prioritisation, costing and completion of works, while monitoring KPIs and budgets and

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating responsive repairs, ideally in social housing.
• Ability to manage contractors and inspect works for quality and compliance.
• Strong communication with residents, colleagues and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end responsive repairs process and inform residents throughout.
• Diagnose and prioritise repairs, raise orders, prevent overdue work.
• Manage contractor performance, quality, safety, valuations, variations and invoices.
• Carry out pre- and post-inspections and assess complex cases.
• Coordinate urgent hazard responses within statutory timescales.
• Monitor repairs budgets and resident satisfaction, driving improvement.
• Support disrepair responses with accurate evidence and records.
