Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for Granville Respite Care in Monton, Eccles, to provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs. You will work with specialist practitioners to apply Positive Behaviour Support strategies, supporting independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Caring, practical and person-centred approach.
• Experience of supporting adults with complex care needs including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, mental health needs and behaviours of concern.
• Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with service users, families, carers and colleagues.
• Good communication skills with ability to adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently; flexible with patterns and service needs.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles desirable.
• Awareness of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Equality Act 2010 desirable.
• Commitment to learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the person is at the heart of everything we do.
• Support people to enjoy arts, crafts, games and leisure activities.
• Help people manage finances, their home, domestic tasks, meal preparation, medication, routine appointments and personal care.
• Support community outings and local activities.
• Maintain accurate records and report concerns.
• Support people to develop positive relationships and be an equal and valued member of their local community.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, health professionals, and colleagues to ensure safe and effective support.
