Have you ever wanted to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable Children and Young People? Our children’s home in Gatley, Stockport provides residential care for children and young people with autism, learning difficulties, and other additional needs.

The Together Trust is one of the North West’s leading charities, offering individual care, support, and education to hundreds of children, young people, and adults each year. We are a not-for-profit charitable trust, so every penny goes back into benefiting the people we support.

Together we make a difference, develop and learn, and support each other. Every day with us is different, but our mission remains the same: to champion the rights, needs, and ambitions of the people we support — they are at the heart of everything we do. We stand by them and work together for change.

We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home — whether that's a place to call your own or somewhere to get safety, stability, and support. You’ll be helping children to grow their independence and shape their own story within a supportive, caring home.

Location – Gatley, Stockport

Hours - 37.5 hours per week

Salary - £24,700 (£12.67 per hour)

Sleep-in shifts paid at £100.80 per shift.

Weekends paid at a 25% premium on the hourly rate.

About the position…

  • You will work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for children and young people with their physical, emotional, and social needs, emphasizing their personal growth and independence.
  • Working on your own initiative and as part of a team, you will prepare and assist children and young people to fulfill the aims of their person-centred plan.
  • You will support children and young people with communication and work closely with a team passionate about improving their lives while in our care.
  • You will work flexibly to undertake the full range of duties in a well-planned manner that respects and values the children and young people as individuals.

We provide compassionate, nurturing care for children and young people in crisis with complex needs, supporting them to move on from a difficult past to a brighter future.

About you…

We look for applicants with the following skills:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, as much of this role involves working with social workers and parents.
  • Previous experience in key working with young people, including primary responsibility in complex cases, and the ability to consider their feelings and wishes.
  • Experience in shift leading, supervising team members in the absence of the Registered Manager/Assistant Manager, and contributing to team assessments and appraisals.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding young people.
  • A good standard of written English and IT skills, as you will be writing reports and keeping records of progress.
  • Transporting children/young people to activities or school is required. A driving license held for at least 12 months is desirable.

Benefits include…

  • 27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years, and 33 after 10 years.
  • Generous pension scheme and death in service benefit, with 4% company contributions and up to 6x salary in death benefits.
  • Occupational sick pay and family-friendly policies, including enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave.
  • Reward and discount platform offering discounts at high street shops, travel, insurances, etc.
  • Eligibility to apply for a Blue Light card.
  • Recognition as a real living wage employer.
  • Refer a friend scheme with rewards for successful recommendations.
  • Comprehensive training and development, including apprenticeship qualifications.
  • Long service awards, including cash gifts and extra holiday.
  • Promotion of wellbeing, including mental health first aiders and free weekly yoga sessions, in person or online.
