Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Residential Support Worker for our Children's Home in Yardley, Birmingham. The role involves shift work, including weekends and sleep-ins, to provide consistent care and support to young people.

You will build trusting relationships, support daily routines, and promote personal development. Prior experience is beneficial but not essential; training is provided to help you grow in a rewarding, long-term care career.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in residential childcare or supporting young people is desirable but not essential.
• Ideally an understanding of safeguarding and care planning processes.
• Experience working within structured residential or care environments would be an advantage but not essential.
• Willingness to complete relevant childcare qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist young people with daily routines, education and activities
• Build strong, positive relationships that create trust and stability
• Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive home environment
• Assist with care plans, routines and developmental goals
• Contribute to shift coordination and support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping
• Complete reports, records and day-to-day household responsibilities

Job description

Residential Support Worker - Children's Home in Yardley, a permanent position offering £29,808 to £30,432 per annum. This role involves shift work, including weekends and sleep-ins, to provide consistent care. You will build trusting relationships, offering emotional and practical guidance to young people. Daily tasks include supporting daily routines, managing behaviour, and promoting personal development. While prior experience is beneficial, we welcome applicants with the right values and provide comprehensive training.
